Manager, Accounting (FN44-5)



TScan Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech seeking to revolutionize life-changing therapeutics for patients by identifying novel T cells and epitopes. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager’s key responsibilities include management of the monthly and quarterly close processes, preparation of complex accruals, review of other team members accruals and reconciliations, participation in external audit process and contributions in implementing TScan’s effective control environment. The Accounting Manager should be a highly organized and proactive individual with strong attention to detail, a sound understanding of accounting, financial reporting and internal controls, prioritization skills and a focus on client service. The Accounting Manager will work across functions and teams at TScan as a trusted partner to facilitate efficient communication to support the Company’s financial processes.   • Manage significant sections of the monthly and quarterly close processes, including reviewing monthly journal entries, third party confirmations and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and lead materials related to complex monthly accrual meetings with functional teams, including clinical trial accounting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Work closely with Financial, Planning and Analysis team to analyze financial results
  • Prepare and review footnotes related to the quarterly and annual SEC filings
  • Financial lead for quarterly earnings release process
  • Assist in implementation of an effective control environment in accordance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Liaison with external auditors on quarterly reviews and year-end audit
  • Conduct technical accounting research and assist with special projects as may arise
  • Identify and implement process improvement activities including enhancements current financial processes and the Company’s financial systems
  • Coach and review the team through monthly close process deliverables and other ad hoc projects such as they arise


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification required
  • 5+ years of prior related accounting experience
  • Previous experience in public accounting as well as small- to mid-sized public biotech and or pharmaceutical company preferred
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and relevant accounting and financial concepts for publicly traded companies
  • Relevant accounting experience: general month close operation accruals and reconciliations, clinical trial accounting, revenue recognition and lease accounting knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of SOX and demonstrated ability to implement and maintain financial controls and accounting policies and procedures
  • Ability to apply judgment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to combine attention to detail with an understanding of broader strategic context
  • Strong project management skills and experience; ability to prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborative and consultative team player who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
