Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting (FN44-4)



TScan Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech seeking to revolutionize life-changing therapeutics for patients by identifying novel T cells and epitopes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, strategic, and collaborative Senior Manager of Technical Accounting and Reporting. Reporting into the Controller, the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting & Reporting will be primarily responsible for technical accounting, external reporting processes and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance. The ideal candidate is an has a strong technical accounting background and seeks an opportunity to work in a publicly-held development-stage pharmaceutical company.  The individual should enjoy working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.


  • Lead financial internal and external reporting processes, including local state, and federal filings, and preparation and filing of SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and Proxy
  • Review the impact of new or proposed accounting standards, interpretations or regulations from the FASB, AICPA, PCAOB, EITF, and SEC, and communicate impact to management
  • Ensure accounting procedures and reported results confirm to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal controls over financial reporting including maintaining documentation and supporting control testing processes
  • Participate in the quarterly financial review and year-end financial audit process
  • Manage the equity plan and stock option administration process, including calculation of stock-based compensation expense
  • Manage accounting related to the Company’s existing collaboration agreement as well as any future agreements
  • Financial support for potential future international operations and consolidation activities
  • Assist in the monthly close process, including the review of certain monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Provide guidance to operational finance teams to ensure significant transactions are properly disclosed
  • Monitor legal contract system and work closely with Finance team to determine treatment of new material agreements
  • Provide guidance to Business Development team on potential new deals
  • Assist with specific projects and initiatives (e.g., system enhancements and upgrades, process improvements)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification required
  • 6+ years of prior related accounting experience
  • Previous experience in public accounting as well as small- to mid-sized public biotech and or pharmaceutical company preferred
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and relevant accounting and financial concepts for publicly traded companies
  • Substantial experience in and working knowledge of authoritative GAAP accounting including composition of memos involving technical accounting and related research
  • Relevant accounting experience: equity compensation, embedded leases, manufacturing, collaboration agreements
  • In-depth knowledge of SOX and demonstrated ability to implement and maintain financial controls and accounting policies and procedures
  • Ability to apply judgment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to combine attention to detail with an understanding of broader strategic context
  • Strong project management skills and experience; ability to prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborative and consultative team player who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
